Councillors have agreed that plans for large low-carbon heat networks in Inverness should be progressed further.

Highland Council has identified a number of potential locations for the systems, including the city centre, Longman and Raigmore areas.

Heat networks involve distributing energy from a central source, often using underground pipes to carry hot water.

Local authority officials are to assess the costs and also the best heating systems for the different networks.
